The Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship, University of Kashmir, celebrated the World Intellectual Property Day.
The CIIE at the varsity’s Institute of Technology, Zakura Campus, is the Institution’s Innovation Council.
The World IP Day was organised to highlight the importance of Intellectual Property Rights and make the students of IOT well educated about how intellectual property rights foster innovation and creativity.
Chairman CIIE Prof Gowhar Bashir Vakil chaired the workshop, which was attended by Coordinators of IoT, staff of CIIE, guest speaker Dr Mir Junaid Alam from KU’s School of Law, besides faculty at IOT including Dr Bilal A Malik, Rouf-ul-Alam and Dr Younis Malik.
Prof Gowhar highlighted the difference between innovation and invention and referred to incubation support which the CIIE is providing, besides establishment of in-house prototype facilities at the IOT.
Dr Mir Junaid Alam educated the participants about new techniques required for inventing high-end things, various types of IPRs, copyrights, trademark filing procedures, and commercialisation of IPRs.
