The 5G Use Case Lab at Institute of Technology, Zakura Campus, University of Kashmir is established to provide practical exposure, training, research support, and innovation opportunities in emerging 5G technologies and applications.

The lab supports students, faculty, researchers, startups, and innovators in understanding modern telecom networks and developing real-world 5G-based use cases. It aims to strengthen hands-on learning, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-oriented skill development in next-generation communication technologies.

The lab provides exposure to 5G core networks, radio access networks, edge computing, network monitoring, IoT integration, AR/VR applications, and telecom infrastructure. It also supports workshops, demonstrations, student visits, project-based learning, and development of innovative 5G-enabled solutions.

The 5G Use Case Lab at CIIE, Zakura Campus conducts training programs, workshops, demonstrations, student visits, faculty development sessions, and hands-on practical sessions related to 5G technology, networking, Wireshark, MobaXterm, IoT, edge computing, and telecom systems.

The lab also actively supports school outreach programs, institutional visits, student projects, research activities, innovation-based demonstrations, and startup-oriented 5G use case development.

Comprehensive technical and practical training programs conducted at the 5G Use Case Lab:

• 1-Month Internship Training on Fundamentals of Networking, Wireshark & Wireless Communication
  Duration: 15 June – 15 July
  An intensive hands-on internship covering TCP/IP protocol suites, OSI layer mapping, live packet capture & protocol dissection using Wireshark, MobaXterm remote terminal configurations, Sub-6 GHz wireless transmission principles, and practical interfacing with the standalone 5G testbed network.

• Bootcamp on 5G Standalone (SA) Architecture: Comprehensive sessions on 5G NR, gNodeB small cells, and core network slicing.
• Faculty Development Sessions: Upskilling academic faculty on modern telecom standards, Open RAN, and private cellular testbeds.
• Hands-on XR & Spatial Computing: Exploring immersive AR/VR applications, 3D digital twins, and edge rendering pipelines.
• Network Security & Firewall Verification: Practical demonstrations of traffic inspection and slice isolation using enterprise firewalls.
