Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG) is the flagship program of the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), which provides the right admixture of fuel & support to young startups & entrepreneurial individuals. BIG Fund acts as a catalyst to advance a promising bio business idea closer to eventual commercialization/ implementation in the form of technology licenses or creation of start-up companies or raising investments for the company. BIG is India's largest early-stage biotech funding program, providing a grant-in-aid up to INR 50 lakhs for 18 months. The BIG 22nd call has opened from 1st Jan 2023. 

Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur is inviting applications from startups and innovators working on ideas for proof of concept (POC) and commercially scalable technology in the domains of Biotechnology

- AgriTech (Agriculture, Secondary Agriculture)

- Industrial Biotechnology

- BioPharma

- Environmental Sciences

- ML/AI/Big Data Analytics

- Veterinary Sciences

- Clean Energy and other allied areas.

As BIG Partner, SIIC IITK has mobilized over INR 10 cr to our 40+ BIG grantees spread across India. Some of our portfolio startups like Phool, Kritsnam Technologies, Transpacks Technologies, etc have raised PreSeries and Series A funds, amounting to more than INR 90 cr in total.
